With nearly three decades of experience, Carol Morrison has dedicated her career to leading and innovating in the fields of substance use, child welfare, criminal justice, mental health, and intimate partner violence. As the Agency Director at New Directions, Carol supervises intake operations, provides direct supervision to clinicians, and leads clinical team meetings and case conferences. She is also actively involved in community outreach, training, and speaking engagements that promote education and awareness around key issues.
Carol’s professional journey began with her role as Director of Domestic Violence Policy and Planning at the Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), where she witnessed firsthand the profound impact of substance use, intimate partner violence, and mental health challenges on families. Inspired to create meaningful change, she pursued advanced training in trauma and attachment theory, developing a practice rooted in consistency, reliability, and empowerment for those seeking help.
Her work reflects her belief in social activism and the guiding principles of social work: self-determination, social and racial justice, and honoring the dignity of every individual. Carol describes her role as a helping professional as being a “merchant of hope,” supporting individuals and families as they rebuild their lives and connect with their communities.
Beyond her leadership, Carol is an accomplished fine art printmaker with over 30 years of experience. Her artworks are featured in private collections, permanent installations, and galleries across New York City. When not working or creating art, Carol enjoys snorkeling and remains deeply committed to empowering youth and families to achieve wellness and stability.
